Geopolitics in literal sense is the impact of geography on international politics and relations between countries, blocks etc. The alliances, partnerships formed by the countries impacts us in a way that we might not be able to see immediately but it affects us in a long run.

We all have our vested interests in our lives and so do the countries at a global level. The relations between the nations are purely based on the national interests. Cordial relations impact the trade, economy, investment opportunities, tourism, people to people interaction etc. that have a cascading impact on our lives and in turn impacts the average lifestyle quality of a nation. Security of a country is also of a paramount importance so much so that it plays a major role in the relations between the countries.

Economies of scale is also a major factor which decides the geopolitics around the globe. Large economies such as the US, European Union, China, India etc. have an impact on the global political scenario due to their economic and soft influence. You might be wondering why all this is important for us to know. Influence of a country indirectly affects the way people around the world look up-to its citizens and in addition to that individual importance also increases.

In depth knowledge of geopolitics is not important but a certain idea of what is happening around the world and how it impacts our lives, gives us a view that geopolitics is in a way related to our present and future course of decisions and livelihood.
